Selwyn District Council

Brief

Provide destination marketing services to the Selwyn District Council, promoting the Selwyn District as a visitor destination including content creation, trade and consumer shows, traditional and digital advertising and supporting tourism business owners.

Delivery

It was clear that the tourism work for Selwyn needed to encompass a large range of skills. We were able to offer the skills of all of our team including traditional and digital marketing, copy writing, photography, graphic design, project and event management.

Inheriting the Sensational Selwyn brand, we built on it to have a high level of brand awareness both domestically and internationally.

Some of the highlights of this long-term project were: Taking Selwyn to TRENZ for the first time (and continuing to attend each year), winning numerous trade show stand awards at Convene South, The Canterbury A&P Show and Convene South, assisting the Council-owned Lincoln Event Centre to become a business tourism product, specifically for conferencing and meetings, being the first district in Canterbury to have an array of high quality video content and successfully growing the Selwyn Food and Wine Trail to become a sustainable proposition with the members working together to provide incredible food and wine experiences which were widely recognised by the Christchurch public.

Outcome

We provided an autonomous, internal human resource, based at the Selwyn District Council for seven and a half years. In addition to this, our staff (from our offices) provided supporting marketing and event services.

C i Marketing’s dedication, expertise, and unwavering commitment to our tourism sector has encouraged and supported all of the tourism operators to reach new customers, increase the awareness of our beautiful district - really putting us on the map domestically and internationally
