Guest Preparation Guide
Thank you so much for joining us on the Visual Marketing Podcast. We record in video format so this will be published both as a video and as audio. A little bit of preparation makes a huge difference to how you come across on screen and how much you enjoy the conversation. Liz will be there to guide you throughout the whole recording session.
Below you will find an overview of your set-up and more detailed information underneath. If you have any questions, please don’t hesitate to reach out
What you need
A laptop or desktop computer with a built-in or external webcam (ipads/tablets and phones don’t work well)
Headphones or earbuds (wired is best, but wireless is just fine)
A quiet room where you will not get distracted (a room with soft surfaces such as carpet and soft furnishings works best if you can)
A stable internet connection (wired is best, but WiFi usually works just fine)
Your headphone or computer microphone is perfect to use
Riverside opens in your browser, there is no need to download any software or have an account (we will send you a link)
The MOST important thing
Wear headphones or earbuds. If you use your computer speakers, Liz’s voice will echo back into the recording
Your Background
Less is more. Real background look much better than virtual, plain and simple or something that reflects your work is perfect
Look at the Lens
Look at your camera when speaking, not at the screen so that it feels strange, but it provides direct eye contact with viewers.
Clean your Camera
Check your camera lens and clean it with a dry, soft cloth. Smudged lenses are the most common cause of blurry looking videos
The Best Light is Free
Sit facing a window, natural light from the front looks great. Or place a lamp nest to your computer screen. Avoid the light coming from behind you
Be You
Wear what you would in your daily work, avoid fine stripes, solid colours work well and just think of it as a chat with a friend over a coffee
